Play Books Update
Google has recently updates its Android app, Play Books with some neat and cool changes to its interface as well as a new way of getting suggestions on what to include in your reading list next.
The newly revamped Read Now screen now displays the books you have read recently. There’s also a progress bar indicating how far you are now in the book. “Buy” buttons can be seen beneath the sample titles stored in your device.
If you scroll past the recommendation in the screen, you see a new section. You’ll see Google asking you if you’d like to tell it what kinds of boos you enjoy reading. Once you have selected a few categories, it will present free samples of books you might like.
Play Books now also has a new option of full screen horizontal viewing. This fit-width option is best for reading comics and graphic novels.
Plus, it was noted that there’s a new setting that lets you save your notes, highlight it and bookmark it to Google Drive.
Some subtle UI tweaks were also done such as a better M Library screen book pages that can be flipped even when zoomed in.
Google Maps Update
There is an incoming Google Maps update that users will surely enjoy. Google Maps 9.1 wil allow you to share My Maps as well as a full screen mode that takes away unused items like search bars.
By simply tapping the screen while viewing the map will remove unnecessary interface such as the search bar or the quick launch for directions. Then tapping the screen again will bring back the buttons and text entry field.
This new function can be used in all views except for turn-by-turn navigation. If you’re just using the Maps app looking for places of interest, this cleans up the app very nicely. It gets rid of the “explore” card that relentlessly hovers around the bottom of your screen when searching for a city.
If you have a saved map, you can now share it. You can now also edit the caption for any Google Photos that are located and available in “Your Places”.
These new updates are in relation to its continuous efforts in providing the most convenient and efficient Android apps to its subscribers. Google has also hinted of other great updates in the future that will you will surely enjoy.
