Editing Timestamp in Google Photos: How to Do It?

We love to take pictures. We take a snapshot of the places we went to, the people we love, and even the food we eat. With the advent of camera phones, it is so much easier to take pictures nowadays. The only problem is the memory storage — but not anymore. Google have introduced an app where you can store your pictures from your phone. This app is Google Photos.

Google Photos is the latest product to be offered by Google. It was released last May, but it already has 50 billion photos saved in the service. And, for this reason, it is the best way to backup and organise your photos, even if you are not using an Android device.

The only problem with Google Photos is the time and date. Since it is an American-based app, the time and date in this service is based on the American time. Hence, if you are not residing in the US, and you are using the service, you should expect that your Google photos will be in American time.

Thankfully, Google added a feature called the Timestamp Editor. With this service, you will be able to edit the time and date of the photos, making it easier for users to search for the photos that they want to print or edit.

How to Edit the Timestamp?

Editing the time and date of the photo is easy. You don’t have to be a pro to use the Timestamp Editor. When using the app, you need to open your Google Chrome browser and then go to Google Photos. Look for the picture or pictures you want to edit, and then click on the small info symbol. For those who don’t know what it looks like, it is a small “i” inside a circle.

Once you have clicked the info symbol, you will see the metadata information – the time, the date and the location of the picture. Click on the time and date to make any needed changes.

Can You Edit the Timestamp Using Your Mobile Device?

Though you can view your photos on any mobile device – may it be an Android or an iOS mobile – editing the timestamp is still not possible. If you want to change the time and date of the photos, you need to use your laptop to access the Timestamp Editor App.

But Google is working to make the app more convenient. They are updating the Timestamp Editor feature so you can edit the time and date of the photos on whichever device you use.
