Welcome to the skill assessment stage for the position of Accounting and Bookkeeping Virtual Assistant! This guide will help you understand what to expect and how to excel in the assessment process.

Understanding the Assessment:

As an Accounting and Bookkeeping Virtual Assistant, your role involves handling financial transactions, maintaining records, and providing administrative support to clients or businesses. The skill assessment aims to evaluate your proficiency in accounting principles, software usage, attention to detail, and ability to manage financial tasks remotely.

Accounting and Bookkeeping Skill Assessment for Virtual Assistant Applicants

Welcome to the Accounting and Bookkeeping Assessment! This assessment will evaluate your proficiency in accounting software such as Xero and QuickBooks, as well as your ability to handle invoicing tasks. Please carefully read the instructions for each section before proceeding.


  1. Download the Answer sheet doc below, and insert all necessary designs and responses based on the tasks below.
  2. Please record your process using, kindly choose the screen and camera when answering and completing the assessment.
  3. Add the recording link to the bottom of your answer sheet.
  4. Save the answer sheet in a PDF format with this file name (Name + Date + Acctg and Bookkeeping Skill Assessment).
  5. In the Google Drive Folder shared with Virtual Elves, create a sub-folder and name it: Acctg and Bookkeeping Assessment Answer Sheet, and upload the answer sheet here.
  6. Once completed please email the recruitment team to, to let us know you have completed the Assessment.

Assessment Submission schedule: Within 24 hours upon receipt of the instructions from Virtual Elves.

Section 1: Xero Skills

Task: Perform the following functions in Xero:

  • Create a Xero dummy account
  • Create a new customer/client profile named “ABC Company.”
  • Record a sales invoice for services provided to ABC Company for $500.
  • Allocate the invoice to the appropriate income account.

Section 2: QuickBooks Skills

Task: Perform the following tasks in QuickBooks:

  • Add a new vendor named “XYZ Supplier.”
  • Record a purchase invoice from XYZ Supplier for office supplies totaling $200.
  • Allocate the invoice to the appropriate expense account.

Section 3: Invoicing

Task: Create a sample invoice for your virtual assistant services rendered to a fictional client named “Tech Solutions.

  • Include your company name, address, and contact details.
  • Specify the services provided, quantity, rate, and total amount due.
  • Ensure professional formatting and accuracy.
